I took a quick trip into town to pick up a package and send some CDs filled with the slides I recently scanned, all family photos.  Of course I took my camera with me.

I took the 'long way' into town.  Rather than turning right at the end of my street, I took a left and realized going that way, some of the far away mountains in Canada are easier to see.  The house and all the buildings in this picture are in Canada.

Down the road a bit, I could take a picture of my house, so I did.
That's our little house in the middle of nowhere there with the blue roof.

While at the post office, the lady who works there all the time, was telling us it was her wedding anniversary today and she was giving out chocolates in celebration.  She was enjoying explaining that, although she has been married four years, this is her first anniversary.  The man in line behind me asked if that meant he only had to give her an anniversary present every four years.  You must remember, I live in a very small town, and it is common in our tiny post office for the conversations to be communal.

While I was being attended to, the man behind me stepped up to the counter and plopped a bag down and announced, "I have 12 hockey pucks I need to send to Portland."  Well, I had to ask, "Don't they sell hockey pucks in Portland??"  He explained that his friend had moved down there and wanted Canadian hockey pucks, and he was being a good friend and crossing the border at lunch time to send his friend the desired pucks.   We all agreed he was being a good friend, but since the line back into Canada was rather long, he probably wasn't going to make it back to work before his lunch hour was long over.

So, I had completed my one chore for the day!  I took a different route home so I could get pictures of some of the raspberry rows I am going to use for a sequence for the [community profile] scene_again community.
When I got home, I really liked this photo with the mountains visible in the background.

When I turned back onto the big road going toward my house, once again the birds were out!
First the swans.  Those houses up on the hill are, once again, not in the US.  It's really convenient that even though I live in a small town, there is a much larger town just three miles from my house.  Abbotsford, BC is a town of well over 150,000 people.

I thought this was an interesting view of the eagle.  It reminds me how very large their bodies are in relation to their heads.  Plus, if you click on it (once for big, twice for really big) his talons are easier to see and it's obvious he (for some reason I call all eagles 'he') has a firm grasp on that branch.

I really should be getting back to 'work.'  Since my recent attempt at substitute teaching has been a complete failure, the hubby and I have come to an understanding.  My primary 'work' is now my writing (except for the housework, obviously and he helps a GREAT DEAL with the housework).  My fan fiction is kind of stuck right now and although I've done the initial scan of my as yet untitled NaNoWriMo novel for glaring errors, I haven't really done a thing with it since November.   So I should really stop 'playing' on LJ and get to work!!!!

Thanks for accompanying me on my little jaunt into town!
